Ways to Help

There are many different ways in which you can help the animals at Camden County Animal Shelter.  The Camden County Animal Shelter is in great need of volunteers in the following areas:

Donate

    Donate Time As a Volunteer

Click here for descriptions of various volunteer opportunities.

Donate Time As A Foster Parent

We always need dedicated people to foster cats, dogs, kittens, and puppies, especially during the summer months. Fostering is a wonderful way to help ready shelter animals for their forever homes.

    Donate Money

By either making a one-time donation, or setting up a recurring one, your money helps the shelter fund its medical expenses, replace worn out leashes, collars, and carriers, and many additional canine and feline needs.  You can donate online here, in person, or by mail.

    Donate Items

By donating items CCAS is in need of, such as those listed on our Wish List, you save the shelter the expense of purchasing the items. This in turn lets the shelter use that money for something else the animals need, like surgery or medicine for a special needs pet!

Foster

    Become A Foster Parent

We are looking for responsible, animal loving people who are willing to open up their hearts and homes to special needs orphans at our shelter. Animals that need to be in foster care may include (but are not limited to) sick cats/dogs, moms with litters of kittens/ puppies, orphan puppies/kittens that need to be bottle-fed, dogs/cats recovering from surgery, and/or animals that need further socialization. Click here for more information on our foster program.

Volunteer

    PetSmart Adoption Centers

We currently have cats for adoption at four local PetSmarts. Volunteers are always needed for morning, evening, and weekend shifts.

    Dog Walkers/Animal Socialization

We are seeking responsible volunteers, ages 18+, to assist with walking/exercising dogs and general animal socialization. Volunteers provide exercise and human companionship for adoptable animals. Must be able to maintain control of dog on all aspects of walk, from retrieval & return to kennel, as well as appropriate handling in outdoor play-area. Interested volunteers should have experience interacting with dogs and attend volunteer orientation, including animal handling.

    Fundraisers
We desperately need volunteers who are willing to help formulate and participate in Special Events that will help raise money for the shelter. If interested in joining our Fundraising Team, or if you work at a place (i.e. a bowling alley, restaurant, etc) that would be willing to let us host an event there, please e-mail us at info@ccasnj.org.
    Internet Updaters
A great amount of potential adopters come into the shelter after viewing animals on our website. In order for us to post animals on the website, we need volunteers who are willing to come in and handle the dogs and cats while photographing them. Then the volunteer must place accurate information about each animal on the website. Training will be provided as needed.
    Kennel and Cage Cleaners
We are in need of dedicated volunteers who are willing to come into the shelter to help our staff clean the dog kennels and cat cages in the morning. If you are not interested in cleaning cages, then we also need volunteers to help do laundry and dishes. This may not be the most fun volunteer job, but doing cleaning is one of the best ways that a volunteer can help our orphans.
    Matchmakers
Matchmakers are in charge of helping customers find the right pet for their home. This job involves knowing the animals' personalities, as well as having good communication skills. Training will be done to ensure that matchmakers know the proper procedure when handling customers.

If you're interested in volunteering and you are:

18 years old or older - click here for Application and Orientation Information.
Under 18 years old - check out our Youth Volunteer Program.
