Did you know that in 6 years, one female dog and her offspring can give birth to 67,000 puppies? In 7 years, a single female cat and her young can produce 420,000 kittens! Because of all this overpopulation, between four million and six million pets are euthanized every year and only one in 10 animals born in the U.S. gets a good home that lasts a lifetime.
The Camden County Animal Shelter has a goal of a no-kill county. This can only be achieved through massive spay/neuter efforts. CCAS is doing our part by offering low cost services to the public in the form of spay/neuter, vaccinations, and medical services. We need you to do your part. Please ensure that your pets are spayed/neutered and not contributing to the overpopulation problems. Talk to friends, family, and coworkers about the importance of spay/neuter. If you are feeding a stray or feral cat please make sure it is altered and eartipped. For information regarding trapping feral cats, please see our Learn More about Feral Cats section. Love your pet for their WHOLE lives and not until you grow tired of it. Pets are living creatures that deserve your love and respect. They are not a new thing that you throw away after you bore of it. Together we can win the war on unwanted and throwaway pets.
CCAS is doing everything we can in order to help reduce the overpopulation problems plaguing our community, but we can't do it by ourselves. To truly have a lasting effect, we need you to do your part in spreading word of our goals and helping us achieve them. Here's a few things you can do to help:
