Work with: fostering dogs, walking dogs
Description of work done: help walk and play with dogs; foster when able

I enjoy volunteering at the shelter because: I want to help the hundreds of dogs that no one wants.

I own: one dog and one cat.

My favorite breed of cat and dog are: any kind!

If money was no object, the first thing I'd do for the shelter is: make the living quarters nicer/cleaner/warmer. I'd love to have a bigger yard to foster more dogs than I can now. Of course donate money to whatever is needed the most.

General Information
With Shelter Since: 2004
Work with: dogs, fundraising, office
Description of work done: Why commit? I've tried everything and love it all! Currently, I help maintain the Petfinder website for our pups and work on outreach for our animals with rescue groups. I'm also a member of the foster team and the fundraising committee. Additionally, I enjoy attending political events that will assist animals, such our recent vigil against breed specific legislation.

I enjoy volunteering at the shelter because: I am very proud to be a volunteer with CCAS. Our Shelter truly judges our dogs in their individual merits, rather than their breed! I have met and worked with some of the most wonderful, caring people possible, not just at our Shelter but all over the country through rescue and other groups. We sometimes do see the worst in people, but we also see the absolute best!

I own: one spoiled Corgi, Lily, our newest foster dog, Annie, Two nine year olds, Taz and Harley, inherited along with my husband. Bandit, adopted from the Shelter in June and Smokey, adopted from the Shelter in July.

My favorite breed of cat and dog are: all!

If money was no object: I would still be outside of Wal-Mart with a donation jar!

I enjoy volunteering at the shelter because: Domestic animals survive on the whim of humans and sometimes they wind up in bad situations (through no fault of theirs). It's a joy to see a homeless/neglected animal find and bond with a new family, and you know they are going to love each other!! To watch the loving care in which the shelter staff works is truly amazing, they are heroes to the animals in their care.

I own: one dog, one cat, one fish.

My favorite breed of dog and cat are: big dogs and all cats!

If money was no object, the first thing I'd do for the shelter is: Expand and enlarge all facilities!! Upgrade medical facilities to "state of the art", with an on staff veterinary team! Guarantee ALL animals are spayed and neutered and on-site "training" for potential owners...better trained owners make great pets! To have the resources available to become a no kill shelter.

Additional Info
My family and I have adopted 2 dogs and a cat from shelters over the years. We were truly blessed by the love and companionship that they brought into our lives. All animals deserve the right to be loved and well cared for - from Chihuahua's to pit bulls, kittens to cats (and everything in between)...they all deserve a chance to be happy!

With Shelter Since: May, 2006
Work with: dogs, website
Description of work done: Dog walker, website maintenance and updates, newsletters, anything I can do to help.

I enjoy volunteering at the shelter because: I love dogs. Being around them, playing with them, and getting them out of their kennels is the least I can do. I love working with the website to help promote and get the animals out into the face of the public, as well as using it to try to generate income for the shelter to provide the best care possible for the pets in the shelter's care.

I own: one dog, Cody.

My favorite breed of dog is: hard to determine; I love so many. Probably black labs as that is what I grew up having. Digger, the family dog, was recently put down due to complications from old age. We all miss him incredibly.

If money was no object, the first thing I'd do for the shelter is: have a new one built; bigger, better and able to house more animals comfortably and feel more friendly and welcoming to the public. We do the best with what we have, but I want to do so much more.
